Sustainability at Tailored Supplements
Environmental and sustainability policy:
We are committed to sustainable development and recognise the climate change challenge. Our aim is to create the finest nutritional supplements, made possible through continuous research, using only the finest raw materials, whilst working hard to reduce the impact of our business on the environment. We are continuously identifying key areas of our business where we feel our efforts will have the greatest positive effect.
Concern for the environment is an integral and fundamental part of this commitment.
Our sustainability action plan:
The scale of the challenge is significant, but we are on a path that is committed to an honest approach to meeting these challenges. We will assess the environmental impacts of our operations and set targets to improve our environmental performance.
We will:
- Encourage and promote involvement in local environmental schemes.
- Reduce the use of energy, water and other resources.
- Minimise waste reduction, re-use and recycling methods.
- Promote responsibility for the environment within The Tailored Supplements workforce and communicate and implement this policy at all levels.
- Provide suitable resources to meet the commitments of this policy.
Areas we are tackling:
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint in all areas we have control over. We have identified priority areas within our operational emissions, that will enable us to make the biggest impact and therefore, give the greatest positive effect on the environment.
Transport:
We are already reducing our transport related energy consumption by investing in a number of electric-hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
We are looking to reduce unnecessary journeys, of both staff whom work remotely part time and of our delivery/supply services. Where possible we are seeking to distribute directly to customers from our suppliers and reduce road miles.
Packaging:
All of our external packaging is recyclable. All cardboard boxes are fully recyclable, our bottles are not currently, but this is entirely due to the difficulties sourcing recyclable materials that are suitable for the process of being blown and moulded into a reservoir bottle, which will remain food safe.
However, this is something we are continually reviewing and looking to improve on.
Ingredients:
99% of our ingredients are plant based/vegan. All our raw ingredients are analysed for heavy metals and contaminants content at the source.
We focus on quality of ingredients, and where possible buy from UK sources.
A number of products are not commonly grown in this country so must be sourced from abroad, but stringent checks are in place to ensure high quality and nutritional value.
We do strongly support the purchase of UK sourced products and buy local plans, wherever it is available and doesn’t deter from the high quality expected by ourselves and our customers.
Future plan:
Our motivation moving forwards, is to maintain the practices we already have in place but to continually strive for improvement, increasing our sustainability, efficiency and to cause the least damage and impact to the environment as possible.
We are setting a path, not only for our selves and our team but also for our customers, to support the environment and a more sustainable future.
